Albert F. Gleason, 77, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Albert F. Gleason, 77, of 30158 NYS Route 3, Black River, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Bruce Funeral Home 131 Maple St., Black River. Burial will be in the Oxbow Cemetery in the spring.

Born Oct. 29, 1941, in Gouverneur, NY, a son of Kenneth and Gladys Forton Gleason, he graduated in 1961 from Carthage Central High School.

Following high school he worked at the Sunoco Gas Station on State Street in Watertown, Otis Elevator Co. in Syracuse for several years and then went to work for his brother at KEG Masonry in Black River, retiring in 1985.

He married Roberta Murray on June 14, 1974, in Watertown. She worked for JRC as a health aide, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Gleason was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and teach them all his knowledge in the woods.

He was a former member of the Triangle Hunting Club and NNY Hounds man Club.  He also participated in pigeon runs throughout the US with  for the Zehr family.

Among his survivors are his loving wife, Roberta M. Gleason, Black River; his six children and their spouses, Thomas (Debbie) Mynch, Clayton, Mark (Kay) Mynch, LaFargeville, Renee (Danny) Davis, Carthage, Lisa (Ken) Lassey, Cortland, Allen (Shellie) Murray, FL, Charity (Curtis) Tripp, Carthage; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Cynthia Gleason, Black River; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, a granddaughter, Alana Lassey and two sisters, Gail Whitaker and Doreen Porter, all passed before him.
