CARTHAGE, NY — Anna L. Thomas, 91, formerly of the Great Bend – Champion Rd., and widow of Hazen Thomas, Sr., passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had been a resident since the winter of 2014.
Calling hours and funeral service will be held in May 2019 at a day and time to be announced at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Town of Hounsfield.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Hazen Jr. (Jake) and Sonja, Colorado; Larry W., Texas; Richard and Kathie, Carthage; a sister, Marion Carter, North Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Thomas Greenwood, Black River; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Jean, age 6 and a son Ricky Lynn, 4 days old. Two brothers James Jr., Clarence, two sisters Hattie Schermerhorn and Eulene Childers, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia, also predeceased her.
Anna was born in Barnes Corners, June 19, 1927, a daughter to James and Frances Potter. She married Hazen R. Thomas, Sr., June 19, 1946. Mr. Thomas passed away August 30, 2010 in Watertown. They had been married for 63 years.
Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and had worked at Bomax in Watertown for several years.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
