Beulah M. Baker, 92, Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, NY – Beulah M. Baker, 92, of Washington Street, Copenhagen, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at her home.

Born July 15, 1926, in the town of Rutland to the late Fredrick Jacob & Anna M Burke Goutremont, she attended school in Copenhagen and she graduated from Carthage.

She married Leo Baker on June 20, 1948, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Copenhagen, NY. Mr. Baker retired from Agway after 42 years of service, the couple lived in Copenhagen since 1948.  Mr. Baker died Oct. 12, 1998.

The couple had three children, Rick J. Baker, and his son, Patrick, Florida; a son Michael L. (Robin O’Dell) Baker, and their children, Michael, Kristine, and Melissa, Copenhagen, NY; Patrick A. and his companion (Lesley Nevills) Baker, and his Children, Courtney and Chelsey, Copenhagen, NY. She is also survived by 6- great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Raegan, Peatyn, Jamison, Nolan, and Avery.

She is predeceased by a daughter, Christine Baker and a set of twins, Edward and Debra, and several siblings; Harold, Leo, Muriel, Lyle, Dorine, Edris, Verle, Verna and Vivian.

She retired after 27 years working as a custodian for the Marine Midland Bank in Copenhagen, New York. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Copenhagen.

She enjoyed her flower garden, watching the Yankees, and she loved entertaining her grandchildren and spending time visiting with the Miller’s from Ohio and her neighbors and friends who visited her.  A special thanks to her caregivers, her home helper, Crystal and all the volunteers from the Meals on Wheels Program.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Lewis County Meals on Wheels Program and the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Copenhagen.

Calling hours will be held 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held at 6:45 p.m. in the Chapel of the Funeral Home with, The Reverend Donald A. Robinson, officiating. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Copenhagen, NY.
