Bruce F. Johnston, 71, Glenfield

GLENFIELD, NY — Bruce Francis Johnston, 71, of North Shore Road, Glenfield, NY, passed away Saturday morning, June 9, 2018, at Lewis County General Hospital.

The funeral service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Mr. Tom Yousey officiating. Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, in Beaches Bridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. A gathering at Jeb’s Restaurant will immediately follow the funeral service.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Maxine Kohler; a sister, Leslie Johnston of Boston and Nantucket, MA; two step-grandchildren, Sovereign Lyman and Christian Withey; nine step great-grandchildren; many cousins and their families.

Bruce was born on January 17, 1947 in Cambridge, MA,  a son of the late Bertran and Gertrude Cady Johnston.  He grew up in Nantucket, Massachusetts where he attended Nantucket High School and then Mount Hermon Prepatory School in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, on a scholarship.  Bruce attended the University of Massachusetts for two years before pursing his acting career, which drew him to New York.  He had lead roles in Shakesperian productions while living in both Nantucket and New York City.  He worked for the Big Apple Moving Company in New York for several years.  Bruce met his wife Maxine while working in New York, and on Janaury 14, 1998 the couple were married in Maxine’s nephew Kurt Kohler’s home in Watson.  At that time the couple were building their home at Chase Lake.
