David E. Dusharm, 83, Theresa

THERESA, NY — David E. Dusharm, 83, of Cross Road, Theresa, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at home.

Born Aug. 21, 1934, in Natural Bridge, NY, the hamlet of Alpina, (one of the villages that was lost to eminent domain by military expansion), a son of Howard and Sylvia Dimock Dusharm, he graduated in 1953 from Gouverneur High School.

David entered the US Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1959.

He worked for the Iron Workers Local #60, Syracuse, NY, for 30 years.  He also worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway (Grasse River Locks and Iroquois Dam) for one year and St. Lawrence County Department of Transportation, Canton, NY, for one year.

A previous marriage ended in divorce.

David was a member of the Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #916, since 1969.  He was Past Chief and member of the Theresa Fire Department from 1964-1977, former Theresa Town Justice for 3 ½ years, member of the Gouverneur Elks Club and Philadelphia American Legion.

Survivors include two children; a son, Mickey James Dusharm, a daughter, Cindy Marie Dusharm Leeder and companion, Jeff Butcher, a daughter-in-law, Bonnie McConnell, all of Theresa, NY; six grandchildren, Henry Dusharm, Matty Dusharm, Cole Coutermarsh, Connor Leeder, Casie Cullen and Brandie White; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, a son, Bryan Dusharm in 2015, a sister, Helen McIntosh, four brothers, Lawrence Dusharm, Clyde Dusharm, Wesley Dusharm and Lester Dusharm all died before him.

A memorial service with military honors will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY, with Masonic Chaplin, Frank Gleason, presiding. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, NY.
