Douglas M. Freeman, 76, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Douglas M. Freeman, 76, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, at Hospice of Jefferson County.

The funeral service will be 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Jeffrey E. Smith officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Calling hours will precede the service from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born April 21, 1942, in Watertown, Douglas was a son to Herbert and Ester (Major) Freeman. Following a local education he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1964 to 1967. Following an honorable discharge Douglas worked as a machinist at the Air Brake. He also worked security of Fort Drum until his retirement.

He married Deanna Steele on Nov. 4, 1972, in Watertown, NY.

Douglas enjoyed horse races at Vernon Downs, gardening, hunting, trapping, and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife, Deanna, are a daughter, Amanda and Dennis Jr. Cyriacks, Liverpool; five grandchildren, Raegen White, Paige White, Tassie White, Dennis Cyriacks III, Joslynn Cyriacks; and two sisters, Virginia Hughes, Linda Dennee.

Three brothers: Peter, Edward, and Herbert Jr., all died before him.
