Father, son injured in ATV accidents in West Turin

WEST TURIN, NY — Lewis County sheriff’s deputies responded at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, to a two-person all-terrain vehicle accident with injury on Smith Road in the town of West Turin.

“It was reported that Edward A. Farr Sr., 63, of 3365 Pearl St., Port Leyden, was operating a Polaris 570cc ATV traveling south east on Smith Road when he lost control of his ATV around a sharp curve and exited the roadway. Edward Farr Sr.’s ATV overturned and he was ejected off the ATV. His son, Edward A. Farr, Jr., 39, of 7315 E. Main St., Port Leyden, was operating a Polaris 850cc ATV traveling south east on Smith Road and also lost control of his ATV around the same sharp curve a short time after. Upon exiting the roadway, Edward Farr Jr. hit a small tree with his ATV.”

Both men were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Uitca.

Edward A. Farr Sr. is currently in the intensive care unit and Edward A. Farr Jr. was later released with minor injuries.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Constableville Fire Department, Constableville Ambulance and Lyons Falls Ambulance.
