Fire chief: Please help clear hydrants

WATERTOWN, NY — Please help provide a little more safety in your neighborhood by taking a few moments to shovel out the fire hydrant on your street.

With the amount of recent snow and winter just beginning, keeping your neighborhood fire hydrant cleared of snow will only enhance the ability of the fire department to get water in the event of a fire.

The preferred clear distance around the fire hydrant is 3 feet in all directions and best if access is clear to the street curb.

Thank you in advance for being a good citizen in helping others.
