Gladys Irene Salisbury, 91, Pillar Point

DEXTER, NY — Gladys Irene Salisbury, 91, formerly of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at her daughter’s home on Pillar Point, where she had resided for the past four years.

She was born in Rochester, NY, on Aug. 26, 1927.

Her most accomplished role was as a stay at home mom and caregiver to all her family. She was known for her amazing cooking and her willingness to be there for family and friends.

She will be remembered as the backbone of her family. Gladys had a hand in raising several generations of children, from her own to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an avid animal lover and was dedicated to caring for her dogs, which most recently included her grand-dog, Roxi.

Gladys enjoyed reading, crosswords and puzzles, when she wasn’t spending time with her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her mother, Gertrude Langenbacker, a daughter in law, Mary Salisbury and a son, David Salisbury.

Gladys is survived by three children; her daughter, Christine Schreib (her husband Jimmy Schreib), her son, Darrell Salisbury, herstep son, Douglas Salisbury and a daughter in law, Sharon Salisbury. Her three grandchildren; Julie Persica, Priscilla Powless (her partner Chad Scheg) and Phillip Salisbury. She has two great-grandchildren; Bradley Dadson and Shelby Powless and twe great-great grandchildren; Nico Dadson and Brian Watson Jr. Along with numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
