Gladys M. St. Pierre, 100, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Gladys M. St. Pierre, 100, formerly of both Schley Drive, and Lillian Street, Watertown, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident for the past 10 years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY.

Born Nov. 16, 1918, in Watertown, the daughter of the late Phyllip and Frances Smith, she graduated in 1937 from Watertown High School.

Gladys married Leo J. St. Pierre on November 30, 1940, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. Leo died April 16, 2010.

Gladys spent most of her years at home taking care of her family. She also worked part-time at Bajjaly’s Grocery Store for many years which was owned by her sister and brother-in-law, Ula and Fred Bajjaly. Before she officially retired, Gladys worked part time at The General Store on Bradley Street for Tiny Doldo.

Gladys was a long time member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed working with the schools PTO programs while her kids were attending. Gladys also participated in local bowling leagues. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Gladys is survived by her three children. A son, Terry St. Pierre, Watertown; two daughters, Andrea St. Pierre of Florida, and Shayne DeLaurier (and her husband Donald), of Virginia, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Leo St. Pierre, two brothers, Clifford and Everett Smith, a sister, Ula Bajjaly, and her daughter-in-law, Colleen St. Pierre.

There will be no calling hours. A spring funeral ceremony and burial in Glenwood Cemetery is planned at the convenience of the family.
