Hedwig Wells, 82, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Hedwig Wells, 82, Watertown, passed away Wednesday, July 18, in the emergency room of Samaritan Medical Center.

Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Nuremberg, Germany, a daughter to Alois and Anna (Wurschinger) Banzer, she received her high school education and moved to the United States in 1955.

She worked as a cook at various north country restaurants. Hedwig enjoyed casino trips, sewing, and spending time with her family.

A marriage to Thomas Wells would end in divorce.

She is survived by her children: Wilhelmine and David Ambrose of Black River, Timothy and Wendy Wells of Dexter, Ted and Christine Wells of Watertown, Theresa Wells of Florida; her grandchildren: Jessica, Kaila, Matthew, Erick; her great-grandchildren: Madilyn & Mallory; and her brother: Erwin Banzer of Altdorf, Germany.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by a brother, Richard.

There are no calling hours. The graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, in Brookside Cemetery.
