Helen P. Fetterly, 95, Carthage

CARTHAGE, NY — Helen P. Fetterly, 95, Carthage, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Carthage.

Helen was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Swanton, VT, the daughter of the late Emmett and Lillian (Thomas) Poquette.

She married Alfred S. Fetterly on June 28, 1941, at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Alfred, a former truck driver died on March 28, 1972.

Helen worked at the Carthage Area Hospital Coffee Shop and the cafeteria for seven years. She also was a home health caregiver for several years.

Helen was a member of St. James Church, the VIP’s, Ave Marie Circle and was a lifetime member of VFW Post # 7227 Auxiliary in Carthage.

She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Stanley and Marilyn Gardner, both of Tacoma, GA; four sons, Robert F., Richard S. and David A. Fetterly, all of Carthage and Douglas W. Fetterly of Harrisville; 10 grandchildren and several grea-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren, a sister, Ann Revier of Spencerport; a brother, Francis Poquette of North Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Marjorie LaGray, Edna Durant and Altha Rodden and two brothers, Silas and Kurt Poquette.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Donald A. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home.
