Iris J. “Midge” Ramus, 85, Adams Center

ADAMS CENTER, NY — Iris J. “Midge” Ramus, 85, Adams Center, widow of John A. Ramus, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Josephs Hospital in Syracuse following a brief illness.

Her funeral will be 11 am Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Pastor Terry Alford officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.  Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home.

Midge was born in Watertown, May 21, 1933, a daughter to Edward and Iris Harten LaFountain.  She graduated from Watertown High School.  Iris worked at Faichney’s Instruments for many years.

Midge married John A. Ramus in August 1951.  Mr. Ramus passed away in July of 2017.

She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church and later attended First Methodist Church both of Watertown. Midge was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed ceramics, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and most of all time spent with her family and conversations with her sister Pat.

She is survived by her children, John (Christine) Ramus, Cindy Ramus (Gordon Davis), all of Watertown, Joseph (Kimberly) Ramus, Adams; 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; her brother Richard (Rose) LaFountain and her sister Patricia Verne, all of Watertown, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Joan Marie, two sons Richard and Michael, a brother and sister-in-law Edward and Helen LaFountain and a brother-in-law, Anthony “Chooch” Verne.
