CARTHAGE, NY — Kathy Ware, 76, of 682 West End Ave., Carthage, died Tuesday evening, March 12, 2019, at Hospice of Jefferson County in Watertown.
Born Sue Katherine Plumadore on Jan. 7, 1943, in Moira, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian (Canell) Plumadore. Her family moved to Carthage when she was a young girl. Kathy was educated locally and later graduated from beautician school.
She worked at several salons in the area until opening her own shop at her residence which she named Kathy’s Unisex Beauty Salon. She had well over 40 years in the business.
She married Bobby Joe Ware on September 25, 1993 in Carthage. Bobby died on Dec. 15, 2008. She was previously married to Ronald LaVancha.
She and Bobby were former members of Carlowden Country Club, Denmark and she loved to travel and take road trips with her sisters.
She is survived by one son: Robert C. LaVancha of Carthage, four sisters: Marilyn Hickox of Cortland, Ida Steenburgh of Champion, Peg Ashcroft of Carthage and Diane Knight of Carthage, five brothers: Joe Plumadore of Homer, Dan Plumadore of St. Pauls, NC, Garry Plumadore of Groton, NY, Harry Plumadore of Denton, TX and Deane Plumadore of Watertown. There are numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tony Jr. and David Plumadore and a sister, Barbara Ann Sebastino.
A graveside service will be held in the spring in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage at a date and time to be announced. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.
