Lewis C. Goutermout, 62, town of Harrisburg

LOWVILLE, NY — Lewis C. “Louie” Goutermout, 62, town of Harrisburg, died Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Utica.

Born Sept. 7, 1956, in Watertown, the son of the late Carl H. and Cecil (Roof) Goutermout, he graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School and joined the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement he moved from Oklahoma back to Tug Hill.

He married Deborah A. Wheeler on July 19, 2009, at the home of her parents, Allyn and Charlotte Wheeler with John B. Woods III, Justice of the Peace officiating. Lewis worked for the town of Montague for a short time when he moved back.

He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his children, Michael D. (Tina) Drelick of Lowville; Sarah R. Goutermout of Alabama; Megan Goutermout and Travis Goutermout both of Texas; several grandchildren; his step-children, Jessica Baker, Angela Amos, and Amber Eisel; his sisters, Wilma (Ed) Clemons of Barnes Corners; Laura (Forrest) James of Fillmore; his brother Scott C. (Dorothy) Goutermout of Lowville; his sisters-in-law, Linda (Ken) Watson Schwartz of Watertown; Mary Ann Watson of Dry Creek, LA; his father and mother-in law,  Allyn (Charlotte) Wheeler of Copenhagen; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Stephen D. and Weldon “Joe” Watson, both died before him.

His memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Hardy officiating. Calling hours for family and friends will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted following the service.

The family would like to invite everyone to the V.F.W. for a luncheon following the service.
