Maria C. Fey, 50, West Leyden

WEST LEYDEN, NY — Maria C. Fey, 50, of the Osceola Road, wife of Norman C., passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.

Maria was born June 19, 1968, in Queens, New York City, the daughter of Raymond and Katherine M. Timberlake Bertine. She grew up in Queens and in Bellmawr, New Jersey, before moving with her family to the Freeman Road, West Leyden.  Maria graduated from Adirondack Central High School, Boonville, with the Class of 1986.

For 28 years, she was employed for New York State Department of Corrections.

On Jan. 23, 1987, Maria was united in marriage with Norman C. Fey, at the Ava Hilltop United Methodist Church, Ava.

Mrs. Fey attended Point Rock United Methodist Church and also the Resurrection Life Church, Rome.  Maria was an out-going people person, who possessed a very charismatic personality.  She loved people and her presence and smile would light up the environment she was in.

Maria also greatly enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Charlotte and her nieces, nephews and family.

In addition to her husband, Norman,  Maria is survived by a daughter, Kendel L. Fey and Casey Tyndall, West Leyden; a son, Jacob R. (Sabrina) Fey, West Leyden, a granddaughter, Charlotte Rae Fey, her mother, Kathy Finerfrock, West Leyden, her father, Raymond L. Bertine, East Durham, NY, a sister, Judy L. Finerfrock, West Deptford, NJ. Also surviving are her mother and father in law, Norman R. and Otilla Fey, West Leyden, three sisters in law and their spouses, Ingrid (Robert) Aldrich, West Leyden, Holly (Jim) Griffith, Mt. Juliet, TN, Heidi (Jeff) Gerrard, West Leyden and nieces, nephews and a large extended family for which she had great affection.

In 2001, Maria was predeceased by her step-father, Franklin R. Finerfrock, with whom she had a long and loving relationship. She was also predeceased by a sister, Barbara Jean Finerfrock.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, where visitation hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in West Leyden Cemetery.
