WATERTOWN, NY — Matthew J. Macierowski, 91, passed away Jan. 26, 2019, at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home in Watertown, NY.
Surviving are a daughter, Eileen Bensle; a son, Michael Macierowski; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Matthew was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Westfield, MA, a son of the late Konstanti Macierowski and the late Mary Batista.
The family lived in Connecticut for several years before moving to Barnes Corners, NY.
Matthew’s passion was meteorology and he authored a book entitled Lake Effect Snows East of Lake Ontario. Matthew was an amateur meteorologist, calling in weather reports and updates to TV stations in CT and NY. He also enjoyed educating a local Girl Scout troop about weather.
There will be a family gathering to celebrate his life followed by a private burial in Boiling Springs, SC, where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Margaret Macierowski, a daughter, Jerry Ann Macierowski Hoxie, and a son, Allen J. Macierowski.
