Mildred Woodruff Williams, 88, Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY — Mildred “Millie” Hall Woodruff Williams, 88, Black River, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 12, 2018, at Carthage Center where she had been a resident for several years.

Mildred was born May 11, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Grace (Moore) Hall.

She married Richard Williams on Sept. 20, 1952, in Champion, NY.

Mildred worked at Woolworths and several insurance companies in the area as a secretary.

Mildred was kind and giving and rarely asked for anything in return. 

She loved sewing, puzzles, word searches and playing bingo and cards in the community room at Kamargo Apartments.

Alzheimer’s took her mind but it never took her heart.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Richard, Black River, NY her daughter Sheri (Edmond) Power, Elizabeth City, NC and her son Leslie (Kristin) Williams, Black River, NY; six grandchildren Patrick (Kay) Sacramento, CA, Shannon (Dave) Bannis, Watertown, NY, Edmond Power, Elizabeth City, NC, Jessica (Brandon) Porter Watertown, NY, Curtis Williams, Black River, NY Jacob Williams, Black River, NY; and four great-grandchildren.

Seven brothers and three sisters all died before her.

Mildred will be buried in Hillside Cemetery, Champion, NY. 

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.
