CARTHAGE, NY — Nancy J. Gerber, 71, of 422 Sherman St., Carthage, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at University Hospital in Syracuse after being stricken at her residence earlier in the day.
Nancy was born on Dec. 20, 1946, in West Carthage, the daughter of the late Samuel and Marjorie (Clark) Gerber. She was a 1964 graduate of Carthage Central School.
She moved to Colorado several years ago and worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She returned to Carthage and worked numerous jobs and was currently the site manager for nutritional management at Long Falls Apartments for Prestige Services of Brownville.
Nancy enjoyed her time spent at her camp at Effley Falls and was an avid reader.
She was a member of the American Legion Post # 789, BPOE Lodge # 1762 and the VFW Post # 7227, all of Carthage.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eulena (Gentry) Russell of Carthage and Bonnie Vandewalker of Black Canyon, AZ; two brothers, Donald F. Gerber and his companion, Patti Brown of Carthage, and Lynn (Peggy) Gerber of Land O Lakes, FL; several nieces and nephews and her special friend, Erma Thomas of Carthage.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, George Kane.
All services will be held privately by the family. There will be no calling hours.
