Barclay Launches
Campaign Web Site
WATERTOWN, N.Y.,
Jan. 4 — Will Barclay, candidate for 48th District Senate, launched his official campaign Web site today. The site can be found at
www.willbarclay.com .
The site features pictures of Barclay and his family, lists his accomplishments as an Assemblyman and describes his stance on several issues, including Barclay's commitment to lower property taxes and job creation.
"I'm proud to present this site to the voters. By visiting the site, voters can learn more about me, see how to contact me and see what I stand for and how I've voted in the Assembly during the five years I've been an Assemblyman," said Barclay.
The site demonstrates that Barclay is someone who will fight for real property tax relief and will make sure that upstate New Yorkers "aren't treated like second class citizens."
Some of the accomplishments listed on the site pertain to Barclay's voting record, particularly when it comes to property taxes. Barclay voted 38 times for tax cuts totaling $4.5 billion, delivered STAR rebates to all property taxpayers and strengthened the STAR program as well. He also pushed for a cap on sales tax on gas and eliminated the state sales tax on clothing and footwear under $110. As Assemblyman, he has "worked to reduce Medicaid costs to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer's money," the site says.
The site also talks about how important it is for the Central and Northern New York region to have someone in the Senate who is independent, not aligned with downstate interest and who will fight for this area: "Now more than ever, upstate New Yorkers need a proven fighter for our families…someone willing to stand up to Governor Spitzer and his allies who want to send more of our money and more of our jobs to New York City. As a life resident of the community, a husband and a father, Will Barclay shares and understands concerns about taxes, jobs, schools and more."
Barclay has earned the endorsements of several organizations and individuals since he announced his candidacy in December. They include the Chairs of the Republican and Conservative Parties in all three counties of the 48 th Senate District. The Jefferson County Supervisors' Association also endorsed Barclay at its annual meeting. Retiring Senator Jim Wright also pledged his support for Barclay, who now serves as State Assemblyman of the 124 th district, which includes parts of Oswego County.
Visitors can sign up for e-mail updates, see past articles concerning Barclay and his run for Senate and view press releases generated by the campaign at www.willbarclay.com. Supporters can also sign up to volunteer for the campaign through the site and may offer to display a yard sign in support of Barclay for Senate.
