WATERTOWN, N.Y.
With a desire to improve city neighborhoods, the quality of life of its residents and to encourage a return to more public involvement in local government, city resident Cody J. Horbacz Wednesday announces his candidacy for Watertown City Council.

Im running for those who feel they dont have a voice in local government, the candidate said. I want to help unlock the full potential of everyone living in this city so we may realize our dreams right here in Watertown.

Horbacz, 27, a W. Ten Eyck St. homeowner and proud father, has outlined several initiatives he is eager to discuss with fellow city residents:

  • 21st Century Watertown: Strengthen public involvement through the creation of an official city social media presence and provide more options for online payments of city services

  • Build Your Business Here: Encourage the development of locally-owned, small businesses in the city through tax incentives

  • Live Local: A strong supporter of locally-owned businesses, Horbacz plans to introduce an initiative to encourage residents to buy local, give local, live local!

  • A Quality Life for our Children: Lay the groundwork to ensure all city playgrounds receive proper maintenance and funding to be safe places of fun, learning and friendship

  • Pet-Friendly City: Work together to create a peaceful habitat for dogs and people to be outdoors and interact with each other in a friendly, safe environment

  • A City of Culture: Create and expand upon events to showcase local talent in art, film and music.

Horbacz is looking forward to hearing from the public on these initiatives and any other ideas to improve our city.  A public campaign kick-off event at Downtown Bistro 108, 108 Court St, will be held Saturday, June 1 from 8 p.m. - midnight. All are welcome to attend.
