June Norfolk Gifford

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  June Norfolk Gifford, 67, of Myrtle Beach, and formerly of Watertown, passed away at home on New Year’s Day following a seven-month battle with cancer.

While living in Watertown, June worked at Cheney Tire. 

She also owned a service to include house cleaning and interior painting (her passion) for clients and family. 

June and her husband retired to Myrtle Beach seven years ago. June enjoyed decorating her home with treasures found at her weekly visits to thrift store shops. 

She and Dave met fellow “northerners” in their housing development with whom they dined, went to movies and spent holidays with.

June was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Grace Norfolk, her sister, Mary (Frank) Traylor (Marietta, Ga) and a brother, Patrick Norfolk.

Besides her husband, Dave Gifford, she is survived by her daughter, Lena (Christopher) Vitali-Fontecchio, Orlando, Fla.; a step-son, David (Joanne) Gifford Jr.; and step-daughter, Michele Carbone, both of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Jason and Benjamin Fontecchio, Marisa and Nicholas Carbone and Michael Gifford, brothers; Richard (Liz) Norfolk, Orlando, Fla., Frederick (Marlene) Norfolk, Adams Center; and sisters; Frances (Gerry) Wrenn, Columbus, Ga., Sylvia (John) Nelson, Whitesboro, N.Y., Jolene (Patrick) Allen, Watertown, N.Y., Dorothy (Robert) Morse, Syracuse, N.Y., Barbara (Alfred) Riccio, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Michele (Raymond) Miller, Evans Mills, N.Y.; a mother-in-law, Rena Keiser, Bernhards Bay, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice for their comfort and guidance and a special thanks to her husband, Dave, who showed such compassion and love to June during her long, painful struggle fighting this unforgiving disease.

A memorial service in Watertown, at a later date and time, will be held by the family.
