— Robert E. Moore Sr., 78, of Adams Center, died Sunday evening,
Jan. 1, at his home where he had been under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Piddock Funeral Home, Adams,
with Rev. Leon “Toby” Schilling, director of Pastoral Care, Samaritan Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in
Union Cemetery, Adams Center. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.
Born Sept. 7, 1933, in Adams Center, son of Ronald and Agnes Hart
Moore, he graduated in 1951 from Adams Center High School and joined the Air Force. He served in Germany from 1951 to 1955.
Following his discharge, he worked for A. M. Smith on his farm in Chaumont. In 1961, he began a 30-year career with General Electric in Syracuse as a supervisor in the aerospace division retiring in 1991.
He married Cynthia Nuspliger of Adams on May 5, 1956. The couple lived in Adams, Chaumont, and moved to the family farm in Adams Center in 1968. Mrs. Moore died
Oct. 29, 1994.
Surviving are two sons and their wives; Robert E. Jr. and Judy, Adams Center,
and W. Samuel and Melissa, Chicago; two daughters and their husbands, Catherine S. and Paul Brown, Adams and Elizabeth A. and Barry
Ormsby, Belleville; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A sister, Beatrice Clement, died before him.
His family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601.
