Shirley
E. Bush, 90, of 5590 River St., died early Wednesday
morning, Jan. 30, in the Lewis County General Hospital where
she has been a patient for five days.
Born Mary Shirley Evans in Lowville on July 28, 1922, she
was the daughter of the late James and Grazilda Morgan
Evans. She was a 1940 graduate of Lowville Academy and the
Utica School of Commerce.
She married Ralph E. Bush on July 25, 1945, at St. Peter’s
Church in Lowville. Mr. Bush died April 2, 1976.
Shirley worked as a secretary for Payne Jones and later for
Cornell Cooperative Extension until the birth of her
children. She later went back to work for the village of
Lowville as a part time water biller and was a general election
and village election inspector for many years.
Shirley loved family gatherings, knitting, crocheting and
needlepoint.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, David W. and
Patricia Bush, Camillus, Jeffrey A. and Susan Bush, Lowville,
and Brian M. and Jacqueline Bush, Lowville; six grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
A son, Douglas W. Bush died Oct. 30, 1998. A sister, Helen
Miller, also died before her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at
St. Mary's Church, Glenfield, with Rev. Christopher Carrara
officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery,
Croghan. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb.1, at
Sundquist Funeral Home.
