WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Melissa J. Messina, 50, of High Street, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, at University Hospital in Syracuse.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Evans Mills Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the funeral.

Born in Watertown a daughter of Joseph W. Messina and Louise Rosecrans Messina, she graduated from Indian River High School and attended Jefferson Community College for one year. 

Melissa worked as a waitress for many years at the Commons at Fort Drum and also worked for the Watertown Daily Times. 

She enjoyed traveling to the area casinos.

Surviving are her mother, Louise Messina, Evans Mills; three sons, Michael and Trey, Watertown, and Joseph, Wyoming; two daughters, Stephanie Blewett, Watertown and Tiarra Messina, Evans Mills; two grandchildren, Lois Blewett and Allora Messina; a sister, Bethany Cheever, Evans Mills; a nephew, Corey Cheever; aunts, uncles and cousins.
