Howard J. Whitmarsh, 91,
of LeRay Street, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 7, at
Samaritan Medical Center.
The funeral service will
be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Reed & Benoit Funeral
Home with Rev. Mike Bartholomew officiating. Calling hours
will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Spring burial will be held May 11 in North Watertown
Cemetery.
Born Nov. 7, 1921, in Greene, N.Y., a son to Floyd and Edith
Gates Whitmarsh, he was educated locally.
He married Marcia Isbister on April 11, 1959, at the
Assembly of God Church, Ithaca. She passed in 2005.
Mr. Whitmarsh worked as a farmer at various local farms. He
would later work at Cornell in the Agricultural
Department.
He taught Sunday School and led Bible Studies at Living
Waters Fellowship for many years.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Paul and Anna Whitmarsh,
Watertown; two daughters and their husband, Debra and David
Hartman, Branson, Missouri, and Ruth and Rev. John Petit,
Watertown; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Ellen; and
several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a
great-grandchild.
Besides his wife, he is predeceased by nine brothers: Claud,
Clate, Charlie, Luther, Milo, Harold (his twin), Percy,
Elmer and Guy.
