— Thor
B. “Coop” Cooper, 68, of Caird Road, Adams Center,
passed away Friday, Feb. 8, in Lakeland, Fla., where
he spent his winters.
Born May 29, 1944, in Watertown, a son of Frederick and
Alice Ottersland Cooper, he graduated in 1962 from Watertown
High School and was a member of the United States Army
National Guard.
He married Judith W. Witkowski on Sept. 21, 1963, at Holy
Family Church with Monsignor Pendergas officiating. Mrs.
Cooper passed away Dec. 7, 2011.
At the age of fifteen, Mr. Cooper began working for Lathan
Dodge Auto Dealership and became their service manager.
Later working for Greenwood Buick as their general manager,
he retired in 1991 due to a disability.
He was a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge and enjoyed
various bowling and golf leagues.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and
William Skyles, Oceanside, Calif., Laurie and C. Michael
Fitzsimmons, Watertown, a sister and her husband, Ann and
Dean Chrissley, Dexter; a brother-in-law and his wife,
Thomas and Debora Carey, Schenectady, four grandchildren,
Alice and Judith Skyles and Madeline and Ian Fitzsimmons;
two nephews, Dylan and Kevin Carey.
There are no calling hours or funeral service at this
time.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in the spring.
