LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Catherine A. “Kaye” Sweet, 89, formerly of Brookside Senior Living Community, died Saturday morning, Feb. 9, at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where she has resided since March 2011.

A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. She will be buried beside her husband, Harry R. Sweet in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

Catherine was born Dec. 20, 1923, in Massena, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Badur Gardner. 

On March 4, 1944, she married Harry R. Sweet. 

She worked for Marine Midland Bank in Massena until moving to Florida in 1978.

Mrs. Sweet was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Thomas and Linda Sweet, Redfield, Gerald and Bobbie Sweet, Zephyrhills, Fla., Cynthia and Anthony Andre, Brantingham, Linda Ugis, Arlington, Va.; a brother, Gerald Gardner, Nevada; a sister, Elizabeth Sauve, Jensen Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Sweet, who died on Jan. 1, 1998; three brothers, William, Peter, and James Gardner; and three sisters, Margaret Wilson, Ann Brothers, and Dorothy Brothers.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 5457 Shady Ave., Lowville, NY 13367.
