OSWEGATCHIE, N.Y. — Rolland E. Hickey, 74, Oswegatchie Trail, died Wednesday evening,
March 14, at Clifton Fine Hospital, Star Lake, while under the care of his family and Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Adirondack Funeral Home, Harrisville. Calling hours will be held
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the funeral home.
Born June 22, 1937, in Watertown, the son of Howard and
Jayne Hough Hickey, he attended Carthage High School.
He married Bernice Arnold on Sept. 2, 1955, at Carthage
First Methodist Church. She died Jan. 26, 2007.
He was a laborer and foreman for Laborers Union Local 322 in
Massena, NY. He also owned and operated Parkside Grocery in
Oswegatchie for seven years.
Rolland
was an avid sportsman, including hunting, trapping and
fishing. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida and enjoyed
going to casinos. He served in the N.Y. National Guard, was
a member of the Shriners of Watertown, and the Masons.
Surviving are a son, Danny J., Oswegatchie; two daughters,
Paula and her companion, Walter Levy, and Laurie and Carl
Northrop, Oswegatchie; two brothers, Donald and Joey, Fla.;
seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; a brother
in law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Rose Arnold.
Four
brothers, Gene, John, Danny and Richard, all died before him.
