WATERTOWN,
N.Y. — Jean Ann Premo Rivers, 73, died
Saturday at Samaritan Medical Center where she had been a
patient for two weeks. She has resided in the Samaritan Keep
Nursing Home for four years.
Mrs. Rivers worked in the office of the Curtis Apartments,
336 W. Main St..
Born Oct. 24, 1936, in the town of Hounsfield, a daughter of
Fred J. and Gladys Wagoner Premo, she graduated in 1954 from
Brownville – Glen Park High School, and from Jefferson
Community College in 1979.
She married Gene David Rivers of Adams Center on July 14,
1957, at Brownville Methodist Church. He died in July 1975.
Mrs. Rivers was a former member of the Brownville American
Legion Auxillary and the Red hat Society at the Samaritan
Keep Home.
She enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Deborah J.
Rivers, Watertown, and Linda and Craig Carr, Long Island; two
sons, Gene D., Jr. and Melvin F., both of Watertown; a
brother, Carl F. Premo, Dillsburg, Pa.; four sisters, Susie
Tremont, Watertown; Evangeline Bezner, Reading, Pa.; Beverly
(Glenn) Hall, Dexter, Jacqueline (Atillio) Tavani, Watertown;
several grandchildren and great grandchildren, several
nieces and nephews; and all her special friends on the 5th
floor of the Samaritan Keep Home.
Her parents, husband, five brothers, Wilbur, Kenneth,
Leonard, Lloyd and Clarence Premo, five sisters, Betty
Gilchrist, Helen Eveleigh, Carolyn Premo, Clara and Mary
Premo, both in infancy and four nephews, all died before her
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Reed &
Benoit Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Brownville
Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the
funeral home.
