WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Michael S. Solar, 36, Oswego, formerly of Watertown, died Tuesday morning, March 25,
at Oswego Hospital, where he had been a patient for a day.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28,at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 214 Sterling St.,
Watertown. The memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March
29, at the Life Church of the Nazarene, 535 Thompson Blvd., Watertown, with Pastor Greg Gates officiating. Spring burial will be in Adams State Road Cemetery
(Honeyville Cemetery), Adams Center.
Donations may be made in his name to the Neurosurgical Research and Educational Memorial Fund, 750 E. Adams St., Jacobsen Hall, 6th Floor, Syracuse,
N.Y. 13210.
Born Dec. 29, 1971, in Watertown, the son of Thomas E. and Patricia Paro
Solar, he graduated from Watertown High School.
He entered the Navy on July 6, 1990. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the NATO Medal, and the Armed Forces Service Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman 3rd Class on June 13, 1996.
Mr. Solar had been disabled for many years.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 61.
He played football in high school, and enjoyed rock music and playing guitar.
Surviving are a brother, Stephen D. Solar, Watertown; two sisters, Lisa Searchfield, Glen Park, and Shari Solar, Watertown;
two step brothers, Jeffrey Bowles, Denver, Colo., and Robert Bowles,
Misoula, Mont.; three aunts, two uncles, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His mother, Patricia Lewis, died Jan. 1, 1998, and his father, Thomas Solar, died on
Sept. 1, 2006.
