L. Bulger, 84, of 521 Hamlin St. died Saturday, March 30, at
Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm.
Born Nov. 9, 1928, in Canton, a son of John L. and Cora
Laidlaw Bulger, he graduated in 1946 from Gouverneur High
Mr. Bulger was in the Army serving in Germany during the
Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He
graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1955 with a
bachelor's degree in business.
He married Mary LaFave on May 26, 1956, at Notre Dame Church in
Malone with Rev. Martin officiating.
Mr. Bulger was a computer programmer at the New York Air
Brake from 1955 until his retirement in 1991.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Mr. Bulger a member of the American Legion Post 61, an avid
reader and a really great grandfather to his grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and two daughter
in-laws, Michael and Marcia, John and Vicki both of
Watertown and Steven, New York City; a daughter, Susan and
Michael Erdner, Adams; and eight grandchildren, Brian Erdner,
Nicole Southcott, Tara Reaves, Sara Bulger, Michael Bulger,
Lauren Bulger, Mason Bulger, Marley Bulger.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 .m. Tuesday, April 2, at D.L.
Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be 9:15
a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the funeral home followed by a
10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven
Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood
