Julia R. Campisi

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Julia R. Campisi, 91, of 16 Florence Avenue, Denville, N.J, a two year resident of St. Frances Residences, Denville, N.J., and formerly of Watertown, died peacefully at Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Plains, N.J. on March 29.

Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Watertown, a daughter of Cosimo Mammoliti and Venerando Broncitizano, she moved to Auburn as achild. 

She married Guido G. ‘Chip’ Campisi on Oct. 31, 1936.The couple then moved back to Watertown. She and her husband Guido lived on Emerson Street for 64 years of their marriage and after retirement spent half the year at Holiday Park in Palm Bay , Fla.  Mr. Campisi died Oct. 17, 2000. 

Mrs. Campisi worked in retail many years and was employed by the Watertown School System as a cafeteria cashier until her retirement in 1978.

She was communicant of Holy Family Church. She loved to sew, read, bowl, play cards and travel all over the world with her husband and friends. 

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Gary Vittorio, Denville, N.J.; a daughter in-law, Eleanor Campisi, Syracuse; a brother, George Mammoliti, Sunrise, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Lena Ward, Watertown, and Valia Marshall, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Julie Romano, Lynn McDonald, Steven Vittorio, Jeffery Vittorio, all of N.J., David, Mark and Kevin Campisi, all of Pennsylvania; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

A son, Ronald, a captain in the Navy died in 2001, and three brothers, James, William and John, also died before her.

Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held 9:15 a.m. Monday, May 19, at the funeral home with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
