WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
William A. Taylor, 80,
of Mill Street, died Sunday afternoon, March 30, in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 214 Sterling St., Watertown,
with the the American Legion Post 61 conducting their service at 6:30
p.m. A prayer service will be held 10:15 a.m. Wednesday,
April 2, at the funeral home followed by the 11 a.m. funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church
with Rev. Richard Huber, M.S.C., officiating. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery.

Born May 5, 1927, in Deferiet, the son of Ambrose W. and Mary C. Ward
Taylor, he attended Deferiet, Augustinian Academy, and Holy Family schools.
On Oct. 17, 1944, he entered the Navy. He received the Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Water Tender 3rd Class on July 19, 1946.
He married Alice L. Morse on Nov. 4, 1950, at St. Rita's Church, Deferiet, with Rev. James A. Fix officiating. Mrs. Taylor died on May 20, 2001.
Mr. Taylor worked for over 40 years for St. Regis Paper Co., which became Champion Paper Co., Deferiet. He also worked part time with his brothers, James, Vernon, and Thomas, for Taylor Brothers Sandblasting Co.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, and was a member of the American Legion Post 61.
He enjoyed gardening, traveling, wood crafting, and home improvement. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
Surviving are two sons, David W. and John C., both of Watertown;
two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl K. Taylor, Watertown, and Laura L. and David D. Huntley, Sackets Harbor;
five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers and
a sister-in-law, Vernon F. and Alice Taylor, Jonestown, Pa., and James P. Taylor, Clearwater,
Fla.; three sisters, Olga M. Sennett and Katherine L. Doe, both of Watertown, and Margaret A. Perry, Clearwater, FL; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Michael A. Taylor, Sept. 24, 2007, his 3 brothers, John F.,
Dec. 24, 1980, Thomas L., February 3, 1990, and Harvey E.,
Nov. 21, 2004, and his sister, Kathleen D. Taylor, 1934.
