Joseph A. Marra

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Joseph A. Marra, 88, of Bellew Avenue, passed away Saturday, April 6, at Samaritan Medical Center.

B
orn Dec. 14, 1924, in Watertown, next door to his current home, the son of Phillipo and Angelina Pecori Marra, he attended Watertown High School. 

Mr. Marra married Betty Snyder on Nov. 18, 1951, at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Coffey officiating.

He was co-owner of Johnny’s Fruit Company with his brother John and later his cousin Phil, retiring at age seventy two. 

Previously, Mr. Marra was the manager of the Black River Bowling Alley and Knights of Columbus Bowling Alley. 

He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church for his entire life. He was also a member of the Italian American Civic Association and a third degree Knight of Columbus. 

He was an avid gardener and top bowler at Pla-Mor Lanes.

Surviving besides his wife are a son and his wife, Joseph P. and Lisa M., Ashville, N.C.; a sister and her husband, Mary and Ken Parker, Watertown; several nieces and nephews. 

Three brothers John, Anthony and Frank, and three sisters, Frances Pietroski, Rose Morgia and Angie Fletcher, all died before him.

Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Donald Robinson. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
