— Joseph A. Marra, 88, of Bellew Avenue,
passed away Saturday, April 6, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Born Dec. 14, 1924, in
Watertown, next door to his current home, the son of
Phillipo and Angelina Pecori Marra, he attended Watertown
Mr. Marra married Betty Snyder on Nov. 18, 1951, at
St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Coffey officiating.
He was co-owner of Johnny’s Fruit Company with his brother
John and later his cousin Phil, retiring at age seventy
Previously, Mr. Marra was the manager of the
Black River Bowling Alley and Knights of Columbus Bowling
He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church for his
entire life. He was also a member of the
Italian American Civic Association and a third degree Knight
He was an avid gardener and top bowler at Pla-Mor
Surviving besides his wife are a son and his wife, Joseph P.
and Lisa M., Ashville, N.C.; a sister and her husband, Mary
and Ken Parker, Watertown; several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers John, Anthony and Frank, and
three sisters, Frances Pietroski, Rose Morgia and Angie
Fletcher, all died before him.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the
D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be
held 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a 10 a.m.
funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Donald
Robinson. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
