Michael F. Storms

CARTHAGE, N.Y.    Michael F. Storms, 61, of 37248 Route 3, died Saturday evening, April 6, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., following complications from a double lung transplant.

Born May 2, 1951, in Watertown, the son of the late Secord S. and Mary O. O'Brien Storms, he graduate in 1969 from Carthage Central High School. 

He married Susan E. Tyner on August 4, 1973 in St. James Church, Carthage. 

After the death of his father Secord, Mike operated the family business of cattle dealing for 10 years. He then was employed at Halley Electric and retired as a salesman for McQuade & Bannigan in Watertown. 

Mr. Storms has been a councilman for the Town of Wilna since 2002 and served prior on the Zoning Board of Appeals for six years.

Mike was a member of the BPOE Lodge # 1762, Carthage, Black River Valley Riders Assoc., Sons of the American Legion, Carthage and an exempt member of the Carthage Volunteer Fire Department.

enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially at the family cottage at 14 Island Camp in Ontario, Canada, hunting at the family camp in DeGrasse and 4-wheeling.

Surviving are his wife, Susan E., Carthage; two daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and William Kalin, Black River, and Kelly and Jason Bush, Carthage; six grandchildren, Reagan and Owen Lundy, Chloe Kalin and Mitchell, Jacob and Elizabeth Bush; two brothers and their wives, Steven and Cyanne Storms, Harrisville, and Paul and Greta Storms, Carthage; a sister-in-law, Gloria Storms, Carthage; and several nieces and nephews. 

His parents and a brother, George Storms, all died before him.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at St. James Catholic Church, Carthage. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Champion, at the family’s convenience. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home. An Elks memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
