Adelbert N. Young

BLACK RIVER, N.Y.     Adelbert N. Young, 58, of 29754 Route 3, passed Tuesday, April 9, at his home.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River, with Rev. Bill Ramage of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the funeral home.

Born Nov. 6, 1954, in Watertown, a son of Adelbert N. and Marion Rochia Young, he attended Carthage Central School.

He married Diana L. Gardner of Black River on July 14, 1973, at the Black River United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruoff officiating.

Mr. Young worked at New York Air Brake from 1973 until 1995 as a heavy equipment operator. In 1995 he worked at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home environmental services and maintenance department up until he retired in 2009 due to disability. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling and spending time with his family.

Mrs. Young is currently working at Samaritan Keep Nursing Home as a hospitality aid.

Among his survivors are his loving wife of 39 years, Diana L. Young, Black River; a sister and brother-in-law, Darla and Gene Lewis, Buckeye, Ariz.; two sisters, Loretta and David Natowitz, Black River, and Shirley Willis, Fla.; his stepmother, Shirley Young, Black River; a sister-in-law, Arlene Young, Black River; several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, James and Craig Young died before him.
