Sally A. Smith

CALCIUM, N.Y.  —  Sally A. Smith, 71, of 24727 County Route 138, died Friday, April 11, at her home under the care of family members and Hospice of Jefferson County.

She was head cashier for Neisner, and at Fay’s Drugs and Eckard Drugs, in both Carthage and Watertown.

Born April 2, 1937, in Watertown, a daughter of Daniel and Muriel Dawson, she attended Watertown High School.

A marriage to Robert C. Smith Sr. ended in divorce in 1958. She is survived by her companion of 31 years, William D. Birchenough.

Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert C. Jr. and Kristine, Chaumont, and John White, Manhattan, Kan.; two daughters, Debra A. and her companion Malcolm, Loughman, Fla., and Shelly Jo, Watertown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; Mr. Bichenough's children, Thomas W. and his companion Laurie, Watertown, Tamara and her companion Jeff, Calcium, and three grandchildren.

A brother, James, and a sister, Muriel, died before her.

The family will be hosting a celebration of her life for family and friends 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Bay Breeze Golf Links, 11390 Cheever Rd, Chaumont.
