Fremont H. Schug

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Fremont H. Schug, 85, of 139 Park Dr. East, died Saturday, April 19, at his home. 

Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Syracuse, the son of W. Edwin and Esther Harrington Schug, he graduated from Syracuse Schools.  

He served in the Army Air Corp during WW2 from 1942 to 1946, receiving two Purple Hearts. Mr. Schug served in the 174th Air National Guard in Syracuse as head of personnel from 1949 to 1982 retiring as Chief Master Sergeant.  

He married Virginia Smith. in 1942. She died in March 1990. He later married Beverly Hubbard Ashe on Aug. 21, 1993, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Watertown. Mr. Schug lived in Jamesville until moving to Watertown in 1993. He spent winters in Florida.  

Surviving is his wife, Beverly, Watertown; a son and his wife, Richard T. and Janet Schug, Liverpool; a daughter, Pamela Cassidy, Baldwinsville; two stepsons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barb Ashe, and Richard Ashe, all of Watertown; a brother, William Schug, Springhill, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and 6 great-grandsons. 

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Clark French and Rev. Walter Giles co-officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage, at a later date. There will be no calling hours.  

Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown.
