Harold D. Kidder

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Harold D. Kidder, 77, of 206 State St., died Saturday morning at his home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. 

Born Nov. 2, 1930, in Copenhagen, son of Raymond S. and Ruth A. Dietrich Kidder, he attended school in Copenhagen. 

Mr. Kidder worked on the family farm until 1952. He later worked for National Biscuit Company, Wickes Lumber, and White’s Lumber. Retiring from Wickes Lumber in 1991 after 10 years of employment. 

He married Ethel May Forbes Jan 12, 1952. The marriage ended in divorce.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Dwight H. and Eileen and Edward G. and Sherry, all of Watertown; two daughters, Rebecca E. Palmisano, Weymouth, Mass., and Diane and Marvin Micek, Watertown; two brothers, Sterling, Copenhagen, and George, Fulton; two sisters, Elsie Parker, Uncasville, Conn., and Carolyn LaClair, Limerick; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A brother, Ralph, and a sister, Marie Farber, died before him. 

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Crandall, officiating. Burial will be in the South Rutland Cemetery in Tylerville. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the funeral home.
