Mary M. Chiumento

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Mary M. Chiumento, 83, formerly of Cross Street, died Sunday, May 11, at 24761 Plank Road, Calcium.

Born March 3, 1925, in Milwaukee, Wisc., daughter of John and Mildred Cohen Latona, she graduated from high school in Milwaukee. 

She married Patsy L. Chiumento on April 5, 1954,  in Ventnor City, N.J. The couple moved to Watertown in 1965. Mr. Chiumento owned and operated the Arco Gas Station on Arsenal Street for many years. 

Mrs. Chiumento was a home maker and a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. 

She was a member of the Italian American Auxiliary, volunteered for Mercy Hospital and St. Anthony’s Church. Mrs. Chiumento enjoyed gambling, bingo and bus tours.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Kathy, Olive Branch, Mississippi, Frank, Watertown; a daughter and her husband, Judy and George Spencer, Calcium; a sister and her husband, Sarah and Thomas Zemblowski, Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Carl Rhynhart, three sisters-in-law, Mrs. John (Carmella) Steller, Mrs. Dick (Anita) Parrish and Beverly Chiumento, all of Watertown.

A sister, Roselyn Wausnock, two sisters-in-law, Tony Rhynhart and Rose Wolf, and a brother-in-law, John Chiumento, all died before her.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Saint Anthony’s Church with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
