Rena L.
Watson Davis, 90, formerly of Theresa died Friday, May
11, 2012 at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown.
Born Sept. 22, 1921, in Fowler, the daughter of David
and Mary LaPlantney Chapin, she attended a one-room
school house in Fowler.
She married Merton Watson in May 1951 at the Gouverneur
United Methodist Church parsonage. The couple ran
various farms during their marriage. Mr. Watson died
December 1986. She married Raymond Davis on Nov. 23,
2002, at the Antwerp United Methodist Church with Rev.
Paul Freeman officiating. He died in February 2008.
Mrs. Davis enjoyed cooking, bluegrass music, playing
cards, gardening and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Judy
and Chris Liscomb, Antwerp, and Janet and Robert Dinius,
Luna Pier, Mich.; four sons and two daughters-in-law,
Clarence “Bud” and Julie, Las Vegas, Nev., Steve and
Cindy, Philadelphia, Richard, Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.,
and Keith and his companion, Lisa Bouchard, LaFargeville;
18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
A great grandson, John Countryman, five brothers,
William, Clifton, Emmett, Merton and Alfred and three
sisters, Emma Chapin, Ina Chapin and Ida Hatline, all
died before her.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at
Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa, with Pastor
David Snyder of the Philadelphia and Evans Mills United
Methodist Churches officiating. Burial will be in
Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the
funeral home.
