Dennis C. Hunter

PLESSIS, N.Y.    Dennis C. Hunter, 67, of County Route 3, passed  Sunday, May 12, at home surrounded by his family.                   

Born Aug. 3, 1945, in Alexandria Bay, the son of Roy and Catherine Beebee Hunter, he attended Alexandria Central School.  

Denny was honorably discharged from the Navy Reserves as a Ship Fitter 3rd Class after serving active duty from July 1964 to July 1966.

He married Susan (Pratt) Sourwine on Jan. 1, 2000. Two previous marriages ended in divorce.

Denny retired as an aviation sheet metal mechanic from L.S.I. at Fort Drum in July 2003. He also worked as a mechanic at Anchor Motor Freight, Wellesley Island, the Town of Alexandria Highway Department and Bonnie Castle Marina in Alexandria Bay.

Denny was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, barbequing, playing black jack, his Labrador Retrievers, and watching New York Yankee baseball games.

Surviving are his wife Susan; children, Jill Wimmer and her companion Cheyenne Denny of Clayton, Doreen Wimmer and her companion Lyle VanTassell, Redwood, Cindy and Doug Marriott, Fillmore, Sara and Eric Offhaus, Fillmore, Jackie and Trevor Schlagenhauf, Delevan, NY; and step children, Ashley Sourwine, Alexandria Bay, and Michael Sourwine, Watertown; eight grandchildren, Cody, Ryan, Cassie, Desiree, Garrett, Gavan, Carter and Addison; two brothers and their wives, Leon and Connie Hunter, LaFargeville, and Gary and Nancy Hunter, Sugar Grove, Pa.; several nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and his loving home care nurse, Pam Weaver.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery, Plessis
