Clare E. Young, 87, of
Brantingham Road, Greig, died Saturday, May 12.
Born Oct. 5, 1924, at home in the Town of New Bremen, a
daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Bush Bockenheim, she
graduated from Father Leo Memorial School.
She married Stanley H. Young Jr. on Sept. 24, 1946, at St.
Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan. The couple owned and
operated a dairy farm in Denmark from 1946 to 1971, before
moving to the Brantingham area. Mrs. Young worked in the
housekeeping department at the Lewis County General Hospital
from 1975 to 1988.
Mrs. Young was of the
Roman Catholic faith.
Surviving are nine children and their spouses, Elizabeth and
Tom Polarolo, New Hartford, Geraldine and Michael
Woolschlager, Lowville, Elaine Young, Greig, Janet and
Stephen Roberts, Prospect, Conn., Janice and Paul Kampnich,
Croghan, Bruce and Susan Young, Brantingham, Joyce and Rod
Mallette, Brantingham, Charles Young, Glenfield, and James
and Cynthia Young, Lyons Falls; a brother and his wife,
Stephen and Winifred Buckingham, Croghan; a sister, Martha
Campany, Lowville; 19 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren;
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Edwards, Margaret
Kuhl, Louis and Claude Bockenheim, Dorothy Bockenheim, twin
sisters, Arletha Bockenheim and Anita Yousey.
A Latin Tridentine Mass will be said noon Wednesday, May 16,
at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Matthew Newman,
Congregation of St. Pias V, Round Top, officiating. Burial
will follow in Brantingham Cemetery. There are no calling
hours.
