— Genevieve M. Niezabytoski, 84,
formerly of East State Street and Brookside Senior Living
Community, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Lewis County
Residential Health Care Facility, where she has resided
since Feb. 8, 2006.
She was under the care of the nursing home staff, her
family, and Lewis County Hospice.
A funeral Mass will be said 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, at
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Timothy
J. Soucy, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in
Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc.,
5702 Waters Road, Lowville.

Born Aug. 25, 1923 in Taylor, Pa., a daughter of the late
William and Mary Wojcieckowska Ostrowski, she graduated from
Lowville Academy. She worked for Utica Casket Company before
her marriage.
She married Edward F. Niezabytoski on Oct. 3, 1943, at St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Houseville. He died March 26,
2000.
Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated a
dairy farm on Route 26 in Denmark for a short time. They
moved to Lowville before owning and operating a dairy farm
in Turin, returning to Lowville in 1952, where they resided
on East State Street. She also worked for the Lewis County
Sheriff’s Department for over 15 years.
Mrs. Niezabytoski moved to Brookside Senior Living Community
in June 2004.
She was a communicant of
St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville.
Mrs. Niezabytoski was a charter member of the Lowville
Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and crafts.
Mrs. Niezabytoski also enjoyed spending time at camp at Lake
Bonaparte, attending auctions, and antique hunting.
Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and
Carl Halko, Copenhagen, and Mary and Michael Hoffman,
Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Joseph and Sue
Ostrowski, Bridgeport; three sisters and two
brothers-in-law, Anne Kubinski, Lowville, Sonja and Jack
Stanboro, Johnson City, and Regina and William Tooker,
Marrero, La.; three granddaughters, Tammy and Erik Heider,
Kitnersville, Pa, Cindy and Jasin Carroll, Copenhagen, Sue
and Joe Shultz, Lowville; a grandson, Chris Hoffman,
Phoenix, Ariz.; two great-granddaughters and three
great-grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Three brothers, John, William and Francis Ostrowski, and a
sister, Helen Deveines, all died before her.
