— Marjorie B. Miller, 79, of
Valley View Courts, formerly of Castorland, died on Friday,
May 23, at Lewis County General Hospital where she had been
a patient for a short time.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at
Castorland Union Cemetery with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse,
N.Y. 13057-0007.
Arrangements are with the Sundquist Funeral Home, Lowville.
Born Sept. 24, 1928, in Lowville, a daughter of Jesse E. and
Mary Luella Hayes Buxton, she graduated from Lowville
Academy and Central School.
She married Robert Evanor Miller on Oct. 23, 1948, in
Croghan. He died Jan. 19, 1999.
Mrs. Miller retired from Climax Manufacturing in Castorland
as a traffic clerk several years ago and then moved to Palm
Harbor, Fla., where she was a waitress.
In recent years, she had relocated back to the North Country
and worked for Gary Monica Flooring in Turin. She had
lived at her present address for about fifteen years.
Mrs. Miller was a member of
Castorland Baptist Church where she played the organ every
Sunday for many years. She was also a member of the
Karcher Kohler American Legion Post #850 Auxiliary and a
Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her
grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Pamela and Bruce
Marolf, Castorland; a brother, Richard S. Buxton, Rochester;
a sister-in-law, Joyce Stahl, Fla.; six grandchildren, Erin and Jeff Woolschlager, Cheri and Mike Boliver, Liane
and Kurt Kloster, Robert and Bethany Miller, Kelly and Jim
Williams and Derrick Barker; and nieces, nephews and
cousins.
She is predeceased by a daughter, Laureen Deimler, who died
Jan. 1, 2004, and a son, Robert R. Miller, who died Oct. 8,
2007.
