WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Vickie L. Young, 58, of
Watertown, passed away on Sunday, June 10, at Samaritan
Medical Center.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at
Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11
a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home
with Rev. Richard Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in
Brownville Cemetery following cremation.
Born Jan. 4, 1954, in
Watertown, the daughter of Charles and Josephine Brown Young,
she attended Watertown schools and received a GED. Her
education included taking classes at Jefferson Community
College.
Vickie did volunteer work for JCC, Jefferson Rehabilitation
Center and the Samaritan Medical Center.
She had numerous health
issues that she battled over the years as a result of severe
arthritis, which led to many operations.
Vickie was a cancer survivor and a strong Relay for Life
advocate.
She was an avid supporter
of the New York Yankees.
She enjoyed all information about Angels, QVC and was
addicted to her iPad which allowed her to keep in touch with
family members and friends that did not live locally.
Surviving are four brothers, Richard (Janet) Young, Sackets
Harbor, Ronald (Donita), Ariz., William Young, Fla., and
Roger (Roxanne) Young, Watertown; a sister, Sarah DeWolfe,
Oklahoma; nephews, Matt, Joshua, Justin; nieces Laura,
Alicia, Rachel and many others; and er long time friend,
John Corbett.
Donations in memory of
Vickie may go to the Jefferson Community College Relay for
Life team, the Arthritis Foundation or to a charity of one's
choice.
