— Jesse Adams Harvey Jr., 85, of the McDonald Road died on Wednesday afternoon,
June 11, at his home under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
Born June 21, 1922, in Auburn, the son of Jesse Adams and Leona Bolster
Harvey Sr., he graduated from Auburn Central High.
He served in three branches of the service during WW II until 1944. He attended US Maritime Service Officers School at
Fort Trumbull, New London, Conn. He then sailed on the Edward N. Hurley, as an engineer in charge of the engine room. He was discharged as a
chief petty officer in 1945.
In 1946, he married Leona Logan. The marriage ended in divorce.
He worked for American Locomotive for a short time and then went to work for different companies before starting his own construction company, Harvey Construction.
He married Ellen Eileen Smith Fahey on Dec. 2, 1977, with her uncle Edward Smith town justice, officiating. The couple had their marriage blessed on
Nov. 18, 2006, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Port Leyden, with Rev. Stephen H. Gratto, pastor, officiating, and at that time he became a communicant of St. Martin’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Michelle Harvey,
Port Leyden, Craig and Marsha Harvey, Jordan, Mark, Olympia,
Wa.; a stepson and his wife, Gordon and Rae Fahey, Port Leyden; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Fahey,
Lyons Falls; 19 grandchildren, Tessa Mashaw, Heather, David Ferguson, Jason, Aaron, Jeremy Fahey, Sara, Stacy, Samantha, Christopher, Ashleigh, Katie, twins Michael and Daniel, Kristie Rae, Keshia, Katlyn, Kendel, and Kody Harvey; two great grandchildren, Mariah, Mitchell
Mashaw.
A brother, Warren Harvey, died before him.
Mr. Harvey's hobbies included, oil painting, making knives, finding and collecting arrowheads, coins, stamps and steins, and playing the saxophone.
He also enjoyed working with wood, building furniture, and building guide boats. He was an avid bowler and bowled on the Harvey-Wallbanger team at Boonville Bowl-O-Roma. In recent years he raised Basset hounds.
He was a member of Boonville American Legion CJ Love Post # 406, and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Harvey was a wonderful man who loved spending time with his family, he was a very kind, caring, and giving person who will be greatly missed by all.
For family and friends, a military graveside service will be
held 10 a.m. Sunday, June 22, at Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Stephen H. Gratto, pastor of St. Martin’s Catholic Church, officiating. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to the Boonville American Legion CJ Love Post #406 for a luncheon. Food donations will be received Sunday morning at the Boonville American Legion from 9:30 to
10:00 a.m.
