Beverly J.
Phillips, 85, died Saturday, June 9, at Country Manor
Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Carthage, where she had
resided since 2006.
She was also formerly of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., from 1975
to 1995, Flushing, Long Island from 1955 to 1975, and Balmat,
N.Y. In January 1995, she moved to Watertown.
Born June 25, 1926, in Watertown, the daughter of the
Clarence L. and Ruth Whitford Schell, she graduated from
Gouverneur High School. She also attended business school in
Watertown and worked for a brief time at New York Air Brake
where she met her husband.
She married John “Jack” Phillips of Watertown. Mr.
Phillips died Oct. 31, 1999.
Mrs. Phillips enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, cross stitch,
stain glass, crocheting, yachting, traveling, her pets, and
spending time with her husband with their boat and car
collection.
She especially enjoyed spending summers at their cottage at
Lake Bonaparte.
Beverly was a devoted wife, sister, stepmother, aunt and
friend.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Coyle, Glen Park, and
her companion, Francis Jenness; three stepdaughters and
their husbands, Patricia A. and Vincent Bellina, West
Milford, N.J., Carolyn E. and Timothy Knight, Berryville, Va.,
and Mary Catherine and Earl Ervay, Fairport, N.Y.; a nephew,
Michael Bigarel; two nieces, Sherrie Bigarel Williams and
Rosemary Deusser Jensen; many step grandchildren, great
grandchildren and cousins.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Frederick
Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa. Burial will be in Grove
Cemetery, LaFargeville.
Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral.
