CARTHAGE, N.Y.
— Paula
J. Lewis, 64, of 34564 Jackson II Rd., died Wednesday, June
13, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse where she was to
undergo heart surgery.
Born Nov. 12, 1947, in Carthage, the daughter of the late
Ivan A. and Violet J. Moses Hedden, she was a graduate of
Carthage Central High School.
She married Marvin Lewis on April 19, 1968, in Great Bend.
He died Nov. 23, 1980.
She was a custodian at Fort Drum and later with Carthage
Central School District for many years, retiring due to
medical reasons.
She loved to travel to casinos, play video games on the
computer, flower and vegetable gardening and truly loved
spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter: Kim M. Zehr, Carthage; three
grandchildren, Shawn Tripp Jr., Nicole Tripp and Justin
Tripp; two great-grandchildren, Brock Tripp and Makcoy Hoyt;
five sisters, Dorie Vandebogart, Philadelphia, June
Vannostrand, Northville, Dorothy Perfinsky, Wilkes Barre, Pa.,
and Nancy Draper and Diana Blair, both of Carthage; several nieces and
nephews; and her longtime companion, Carl Servedio,
Carthage.
Four brothers, Ivan Jr., Jack, Roger and Gerald Hedden and a
sister, Betty Gibson, all died before her.
Funeral services
will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, at the Bezanilla-McGraw
Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Great Bend.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at the
funeral home.
